Guys, I'm tired. Eight straight school days of six lectures per to 28+ student classes. I can't even think straight, let alone come up with challenging blog material. Is it Christmas yet?
Those ratios are figured by dividing enrollment by number on staff. But by the time you factor in off periods and the teachers who don't teach a full load because they are department heads, etc., you end up with jam-packed classes. And very little opportunity for learning. Don't get me started.
I wish you could teach with me. We probably have the same type of kiddos, but my administrators are most likely tons better. Also, I'm close to DFW...you could watch planes after school everyday! We have to teach on five 45-50 minute periods this year. My classes are around 28 as well, but at least I only have 5 classes. My last period has 8 girls and 20, yes 20, boys!!
I'm a very blessed guy with the greatest wife, children, and grandkids in the world. I taught middle school in DISD for 36 years and retired in May of 2006. Now I drive a school bus to punish myself for teaching 36 years in DISD. I have a huge interest in aviation photography. Most of the pictures you see on this blog are from very talented photographers; the others are mine.

Hang in there. Only 1056 more class periods to go till summer.
28+ per class. Ouch! What happened to 20:1 ratios?
