Welcome, enemies of America!

Barack Obama continues to demonstrate in a very bold way that he is not only out of touch with the American people, but that he may be more in touch with our enemies.

Today, he voiced his goal to make nuclear weapons obsolete and apparently, he wants to start this process with our own. This guy is the anti-Reagan. He has overridden his own Secretary of Defense and announced that we won't be developing any new nukes. And then in a truly stunning move, Obama said the U.S. will not retaliate with nuclear weapons if we are attacked with chemical/biological warfare.

If I weren't already convinced that this guy is naive and nuts, well, this does it. It's an open invitation to our enemies (you know, the ones that want to destroy us?) to hit us with their best shot...we'll just turn the other infected cheek. You never give your adversaries this kind of information. There's a reason a catcher in baseball uses discreet hand signals with his pitcher to indicate the kind of pitch he wants...rather than shouting out, "I'd like a fastball, please!" Of course, we've seen this bizarre behavior from our Mohammed-in-Chief before. Remember when he told the world his timetable for withdrawing troops from Afghanistan? Absolutely brilliant!

And I haven't even brought up (yet) Obama's weird hatred of Israel. Oh, yeah...that's right. Israel is a long-time ally, therefore they are the enemy. Let's buddy up to Iran (how did that work out, sir?) and castigate our main friend in the Middle East.

Conservatives warned about this guy during the campaign. We told deaf ears that his values weren't ours, his past was obscure and cloudy, and his list of achievements non-existent. We detailed the long list of shady characters who've influenced Obama. But too many were caught up in the rush to make history with him and to believe his deliberately vague "hope and change" mantra. Sadly, we were right. Almost daily, our president is indeed making history. The kind that dooms us as a world leader.

You seem upset that we won't be developing any more nuclear weapons. Are you aware that we currently have over 5,500 such weapons ready for deployment? What on Earth could we possibly need MORE for? We already have the ability to destroy much of the planet and kill hundreds of millions. More nuclear weapons is a waste of time and money; it is pointless.

As for your concern over the Nuclear Posture Review released yesterday, Iran and North Korea are exempt from the no-nuclear- retaliation policy because they have both violated the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. They are called "outliers" in the report.

And why, again, do we need a nuclear weapon to retaliate against a biological or chemical weapon? Are you willing to destroy innocent lives for retaliation's sake? We have the best equipped and best trained military in history that is more than capable of retaliating against such an attack. Using a nuclear wepon in that situation would be like killing a flea with a wrecking ball.

And what, exactly has caused you--besides Fox News and talk radio--to think that Obama is "buddy[ing]" up to Iran? Because he wanted TALK with Iran? The horror!

Do you not remember that Kennedy talked with Kruschev? That we negotiated with the North Vietnamese? That Nixon met with Mao? And that Reagan met with Gorbachev? Despite what conservatives like to think, Americans have a long history of talking with our enemies in the hopes of reaching a peaceful solution.

Thank goodness we have someone in the White House who knows that foreign policy does not consist of running roughshod over the rest of the world. Working with others is how you accomplish your goals. We had eight years of "cowboy" foreign policy, and we saw what it wrought. Obama is now stuck trying to repair America's torn and broken image, and totally shifting away from Bush's anti-intellectual apprach to everything is a great start.

"We live in a troubled world, and the United States and China, as two great nations, share a special responsibility to help reduce the risks of war. We both agree that there can be only one sane policy to preserve our precious civilization in this modern age: A nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. And no matter how great the obstacles may seem, we must never stop our efforts to reduce the weapons of war. We must never stop at all until we see the day when nuclear arms have been banished from the face of this Earth."

Who said that? Ronald Reagan. We do not need anymore nuclear weapons.

What we have is a guy who is clueless about foreign policy, among other things. He treats the most dangerous leaders around the world with deference while unnecessarily angering our allies.

He seems to think that by continually apologizing for America, he will garner warm fuzzy feeling from traditional enemies. He sez we aren't a Christian nation and apologizes to the Muslims for any perceived enmity from our side.

We desperately need to prop up the guy who heads up Afghanistan (forgot his name) right now, warts and all. Obama has castigated the guy and yesterday said there would be no further dialogue with him until he straightened up. This pulls the rug out from under our brave troops over there who are sacrificing everything. Perhaps had Obama served in our military instead of snuggling up with communists and socialists, he'd understand such.

Reagan understood that strength comes with power and might. He supported strengthening our defense and military and got real results. Obama thinks if we dilute our arsenal and ask the rest of the world to play fair, the bad guys of the world will cheerfully lay down their weapons and join us singing Kum-by-yah. Please.

When I was your age, I was a flaming liberal. The older I got, the more I understood that it was strict adherence to our constitution coupled with conservative values that made us great. As much as I value your right to be a liberal, I reserve the right to check back with you in 20 years (should I live that long) and see if you still feel the same.

Thank goodness we live in a country where differing ideas can be expressed. And I appreciate you jumping in with the other side of the story. I have a funny feeling we'll never change each other's minds. And if you should ever visit me again, I'll try not to back into your car. Again.

If I do come visit you again, I'll be sure to bring a rental car, just to be safe! Lol.
